Vastu and Feng Shui-Five Elements

[/caption]Nature is composed of sun, moon and stars in the firmament. on earth its constituents are plants, rivers seas, soil, metals, mountains and air. there has to be an elemental balance where we work and live. and the balance come through the five elements such as wood, earth, water, metal and air. Vedas also put sky in the list because it is taken as the spiritual elements where the human soul supposedly unites with the Supreme Power. takes wood first. it is associated with trees and plants, wood furniture paper and green colour, columns, decking and landscape pictures. "Wood people" are public spirited, energetic and outgoing personalities with innovative ideas. on the other hand, they can be impatient, angry and prone to leave tasks unfinished. so wood houses and buildings will share the characteristics of the "Wood people" and hence an wood balance is needed in any building. wood symbolizes spring, growth and plant life. in "yin" form, it is supple and pliable and in "yang" form, sturdy as oak. wood energy is very important in houses and buildings because it is expansive and versatile. Number 3 and 4 are the wood numbers (magic number and date of birth). Next comes water. it touches everything positively and nurtures with understanding. but in a negative direction in any structure, it can wear the building down. Linked with emotion, it suggests fear and streets. "Water people" are diplomatic, persuasive, intuitive, good negotiators and sensitive to others' issues. They are also flexible by nature an artistic and sociable too. When constructing a house, we must have a balance of water element in the right direction. Earth Symbolizes the nurturing environment that enables seeds to grow. "Earth people" are loyal, practical, persevering and a tower of strength in times of crisis. their support is enduring an they possess inner strength. House with the effect of earth element have the same characteristics. Earth houses interact with other elements and people living there prosper and become famous. when in positive and right direction as per Vaastu and Feng Shui, it denotes fairness and wisdom. in negative terms, nervousness is indicated. "Positive earth people" are dependable while the "negative" ones tend to be nit-picking. Numbers 2,3,5 and 6 are "Earth people." Metal stands for autumn and strength, representing solidity and the ability to contain objects. it is a conductor. "Metal people" are resolute, dogmatic, good organizers and independent. Positive metal houses an people represent communication and justice. Basically an interesting lot, they can imply, when negative, destruction, danger and sadness. Metal is an object as sociated with domes, all metal objects, door furniture, kitchen-were coins and clocks. Numbers 6 and 7 are metal numbers. Then, it's fire. "Fire house and people" have the same characteristics-- they can bring light, warmth an happiness or explode and destroy with great violence. "Free people" have leadership qualities and inspire others to follow. when positive, they are innovative, humorous and passionate. Positive direction buildings stand for honor and fairness. when negative, they exploit others. Negative directions in buildings indicate aggression and war. "Fire" elements in buildings are generally not comfortable to live with. They need to be balanced with other elements. finally, the sky. it is the "abode of God." This is why we use more of blue colour for peace. This is mostly used in Pooja rooms, temples, churches and dharamshalas. When we create balance in the elements in any building, we get the best results. the residents, as a result, are happy and rich.
